《在 中国 失掉的机会( 英文 版)》内容简介：The China Society for People's Friendsh ip Studies(PFS)in cooperation with the Foreign Languages Press(FLP)in Beijing has arranged for republication,in the series entitled Light on China,of some fifty books written in English between the 1 860s and the founding years of the People's Republic,by journalistic and other sympathetic eyewitnesses of the revolutionary events described. Most of these books have long been out of print,but are now being brought back to life for the benefit of reader s in China and abroad.

约翰·S·谢伟思，1909年生于成都一个 美国 传教士 家庭 ，1933年——1945年在美国驻华使馆 工作 。1944年7月作为美国国务院政务官员和中、缅、印战区美军司令部 政治 顾问，参加“美国 军事 观察组”去延安，迄1945年3月，他和毛泽东、周恩来、朱德等作过多次正式和非正式的谈话，并和出席中共七大的 领导 人进行了广泛的接触。根据交谈和观察，他半年内向国务院电报、报告30余篇。他作为中共的同情者闻名。1945年6月，他因为美亚事件被捕，随后被国务院解职。
