剧情 简介：
教立大学 社会 学系四年级学生山本秋平（ 本木雅弘饰）即将毕业，却被毕业论文指导教授兼大学相扑部顾问的穴山（ 柄本明饰 ）找去，说他旷课太多不能给予学分，除非他愿意加入大学相扑部。秋平别无选择，相扑部里只有一个留级多年、身材单薄的青木（ 竹中直人饰），相继入伙的几 个人 情况各异：胖子田中是虔诚的基督徒；大一新生春雄是秋平的弟弟，他的到来纯属被逼无奈。仓促成军的他们在比赛中连连失利，引来众人耻笑辱骂。 面 对嘲笑，他们开始认真 训练 ，希望在下次比赛中获得好成绩， 英国 留学生斯迈利也加入了相扑部。再次参赛，今非昔比，但因斯迈利不肯脱短裤违反比赛规定，每轮都白白送分。在最后一轮只差关键一分时，斯迈利终于撕掉短裤。相扑部获胜，五人走上各自己的道路。而秋平爱上了相扑运动，一个人留在了相扑部。
Yet another tradition in the tradition of "ragtag misfits" in Japanese comedy...Sumo Do, Sumo Don't tells the story of a university sumo club in Japan. In today's Japan, the younger generation is more interested in "Western" sports like baseball and basketball. Professor Anayama, a former university sumo champion, blackmails graduating (and slim) student Shuhei into joining the decimated university team, or he doesn't graduate. Along with a pro wrestler, an unpopular, chubby guy, and a gaijin (white guy), the team begins training for competition, even though none of them care s about sumo at all. Gradually, they develop a love and respect for the traditional sport.
