EPA Publishes Proposed Perchlorate Drinking Water Regulation
On June 26, 2019, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator published a proposed rulemaking for the regulation of perchlorate in drinking water to establish a perchlorate Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) and Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) at 0.056 mg/L. The proposal also includes a list of treatment technologies that would enable water systems to comply with the MCL, including affordable compliance technologies for small systems serving 10,000 persons or less. Persons wishing to comment on the proposal have 60 days from June 26, 2019 to do so and should reference DocketID No. EPA-HQ-OW-2018-0780. The comments can be submitted HERE.
